Lighting, Can You Help?

Here are the current lights... This kitchen thing is the first to go. I need help. We have never changed out lighting except to put in ceiling fans. (In California that was a necessity!) Any ideas? Can you put a semi flush mount over a sink? Please leave your comments. T and I are lost here in this department.
While you at it... read the post below about our friend Woody! We could use help there too....

Here are some lights I like from the Lowe's website.... we are doing black handles on the cabinets and we have some black furniture. I want a cabin/country feel.

The Woodpecker from the Darkside!

Could this be our Woodpecker...not sure. Haven't seen the little critter but we know it's there! How you ask...

Let me share. We have a fireplace in our bedroom. It's gas burning so the top stack is metal. One day we hear what sounds like a jack hammer. I could not for the life of me figure out who was making that awful noise so early in the morning. We'll, this went on for days before we had an "Ah ha!" No, It's not a jack hammer, that you could unplug. It was our friend Woody! He visits us frequently looking for something to peck at inside the fire stack. Only it's metal and the bird is stupid and doesn't know it. Do you hear my sweet southern draw when I say that. Yes, I was awake before 7 this morning and it's Saturday. I was truly looking forward to sleeping in. Of course we wait it out and it finally stops.... then what do I feel but a cold nose letting me know it was time to get up. It wasn't my morning for "Charley Duty" but I'm awake so here I sit with my laptop and Charley.

Hope all you out there have a great Saturday! Any ideas to get rid of our Woodpecker friend, let me know. (That would be the comment but below here :) )

Blessed are those....

Psalm 127: 3-5 (emphasis mine)
3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.
5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 128: 1-4 (emphasis mine)
1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.
4 Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.
I received the greatest news I could today and had to share it with anyone who reads this silly little blog of mine.
A dear friend called to say she is having a baby! Number 6 for their family and I am so overjoyed for her. God heard her heart and His timing is so perfect. Today was a great reminder of this. God tells us in His word about the blessing of children over and over again. Not only are they a blessing but our lives are blessed because of them. Can you grasp that? I did a scripture search a few years back about the womb and someday... someday I'll share all I found in the Word. But not today. No, today is a day to rejoice for my sweet friend!
A new baby! Congratulations my friend and may God pour His spirit into this child to live and serve Him. May this little one give you a glimpse of Jesus in its eyes.
