48 and Looking Great

We made this card for him this year. It was a fun way to show how much we love him!

My sweet husband is 48! Oh, trying to decide what to do for his b'day was quite the challenge. I searched for two days...no joke. You should have seen my house. I was way OCD on this... sending out emails for recommendations, looking the Internet over for dinner suggestions that wouldn't cost our family a small fortune, and finally throwing my hands in the air. We went from dinner here, to just getting the meat somewhere, to going out only for dessert.

But then I found Restaurant.com. I was quite happy to see discounted gift certificates for nice restaurants! We called, we bought our gift certificates, we called again, and then we realized we couldn't use all of them at one sitting.. nope. Only one at a time was accepted. Now that wasn't gonna help us. UGH! Back to square one. Soooo... we went back to our old standby. TGI Friday's for hor'doveries. We really had fun. We laughed, told stories, and ate some yummy food. Best part is that it didn't break the bank. Yeah!
One more thing I do for my husband each birthday is to make him his fav*or*ite cake...Pineapple Upside Down Cake. He loves it and we aren't huge fans so it's a special treat for him. That's one thing I did right this year!
So all's well that ends well. It ended well. :)
Happy Birthday My Love

Adoption is a Great Option

I stole this from Jen's site... it was too good to pass up. Any of you who know me knows this makes my heart skip a beat.

For those of you who have dreamed of adopting from China, Ethiopia, Russia & Kazakhstan.

Some of the adoptions are COMPLETELY FREE (YES FREE) and some are only $5,000. Please go to WACAP and check it out. I have talked to a woman who had a successful and wonderful adoption and has her daughter home from Ethiopia.

WHY YOU SHOULD..................................

The main reason is this...

BY 2010, between 25 MILLION and 50 MILLION African children from newborn to age 15 will be orphans.

The Christians need to take a STAND for these children! We ARE responsible to act!

Red, Yellow, Black & White...ALL precious in HIS SIGHT.

Will you take a risk? Step out of your comfort zone? Out of your spoiled life to help one of these who needs you? God did it for you..its YOUR TURN. He IS a father to the fatherless...

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing... Psalm 68: 5&6

Hucks 2 Africa

This is John, Amanda and their kiddos, Mason and Jenna. They are some of our new friends here in Colorado that we met through our fabulous church. I want to encourage all of you to go to their blog and read their story. They are listening to God's call and heading to Africa this summer for a short term mission trip and to visit John's extended family. We are really excited for them and felt we should pass on the news. If you could meet them, I know you would just love them.

Here is their link: http://hucks2africa.blogspot.com/

Thanks for listening,

Ms Tuna

Pay Attention Home School Families and Science Geeks

Attention Home School Families and anyone else who loves cool science stuff:

I found a great place to order your science supplies. They are located in Boulder, Co. Their website is not only way cool but you can have your supplies shipped. Good prices too! I bought some worms, a frog, and crayfish for dissecting and it hardly cost anything. :)

Check them out... Tell them I sent you!

America Voted.. I Can Stay!

Ok... so I'm not really on American Idol but I feel like I was just voted in to stay in the top 12. We got some news this weekend that gave us a big sigh of relief. (ps...I just re-read this post and realize some of this is in code. Sorry.)

Times are tough in our US of A and we are feeling the impact here too. We keep looking at our budget, evaluating what else we can cut and thankful for all we do.

Our family had planned a big ol' fat vacation this year to Hawaii and well, it got the kibosh. We're gonna have to stay closer to home. Somewhere in the US but not as far as Hawaii. We have lots of plans really. A lot of them are moving to the back burner this spring. Bigger deck, spa, traveling, newer car, fluff. You get the idea. I'm sure were not alone. This here ol' economy is starting to sting like a little bee in my pants.

Let me just say we're staying put and God has blessed my sweet man with a job (still and Amen!) and I am sooo thankful! We are seeing or hearing about folks who are losing their jobs left and right. It is so sad and down right scary. Preparation seems to be the key word of the hour in our home. So that's what we are doing. Mentally, spiritually, and financially. Preparing.
Ouch, that pesky bee!

Reality Check:

How about you? Are you preparing? Are you ready for harder times or are you skirting on by day to day. It sure isn't easy and takes way lots of discipline. It's sometimes down right painful. You ain't alone my friend... I'm right here with ya.
